Graziadio School of Business and Management
Willis Clow is a 20-month MBA candidate at Pepperdine's Graziadio School of Business and Management pursuing a concentration in dispute resolution. In his previous career as a professional guitar player, he performed both domestically and abroad, wrote songs and produced recordings for independent artists, taught guitar, and performed on numerous recordings for film, television and video games. At the Graziadio School, Willis has been active in networking with alumni and working towards building a stronger connection between alumni and full-time students. Following graduation from Pepperdine, Willis plans to transition to the sports industry and utilize his knowledge of finance and corporate law to find a career as the general manager of a professional sports team.
A native of Joyce, Washington, a small farming and logging community on the northern edge of the Olympic Peninsula, Tyler S. Dempsey is a 2015 MBA candidate with an interest in digital innovation, entrepreneurship and marketing. With a deep-rooted commitment to the community and to promoting sustainable business practices, Tyler is also pursuing Pepperdine's Certificate in Socially, Environmentally and Ethically Responsible (SEER) Business Strategy. Tyler completed his undergraduate degree in music business at Cal Poly Pomona and has work experience in the private and nonprofit sectors. Tyler is always striving to grow, both personally and professionally, and is passionate about working with inspiring people to create meaningful change. A self-proclaimed music nerd, Tyler likes to spend his free time learning about, creating and listening to all genres of music. He also enjoys relaxing with friends, travel and volunteering.
Director of Finance
Prior to attending Pepperdine University, Payden graduated from the University of Connecticut in 2010, where he received his BA in economics with a minor in business administration. After graduation, Payden worked for both Merrill Lynch and Northwestern Mutual as a wealth management advisor. While attending Pepperdine, he is also serving as the vice president of private equity in the Finance Club and works at a private equity company in Westlake Village. Payden likes to ski, golf, hike and hang out with friends.
Director of Communications
Celyn Stanford was born and raised in Southern California. She attended San Diego State University, where she earned a BS in business management. During college, Celyn held internships with Integrated Sports Marketing and Wells Fargo Private Bank, where she learned valuable management and marketing skills. After graduating she took her extensive business skills to San Luis Obispo to work as a premium account coordinator for MINDBODY, Inc. After almost two years with MINDBODY, Celyn decided to go back to school. She is currently an MBA candidate with a marketing concentration.
Director of Alumni Relations
A Southern California native, Amy Gubman was born and raised in Orange County and earned her undergraduate degree in journalism from California State University, Northridge in 2007. Amy has worked in marketing for the past six years, beginning at an entertainment public relations agency, Rogers & Cowan, and later managing a direct-to-consumer marketing channel at the Manhattan Beach skincare company, Murad, Inc. After earning her MBA from the Graziadio School in 2015, Amy hopes to work as a brand manager for a CPG company and eventually launch her own consumer brand of products that help improve the quality of life for children and adults.
Director of Student Life
Hala is a 20-month MBA candidate with a concentration in finance at the Graziadio School. She graduated with a degree in biology and music from UC San Diego and an MS from Utah State University. Prior to Pepperdine, Hala completed a year of service with AmeriCorps in Florida, mentoring and coaching over 200 at-risk youth to graduate with a standard high school diploma and with the goal of pursuing a college degree. Although an active member on campus in clubs such as Challenge-4-Charity, Graziadio Student Ambassadors and the Finance Club, Hala is most excited about shaping the next school year as director of student life for the Malibu Graduate Business Society. Having previously held a variety of internships and jobs in research, data analysis and teaching, Hala is excited about the multitude of opportunities ahead. A true Southern California native, she enjoys anything involving sun and sand. As a former college volleyball athlete and avid traveler, Hala's view on life is "no risk, no reward."
Director of International Students
Stacy Yuan is in her second year of the 20-month MBA program. Prior to attending Pepperdine, Stacy had over three years of working experience in the pulp and paper manufacturing industry in China, leading projects for business development and product management. With exposure to multicultural business environments and other areas, she plans to pursue a career in supply chain management and project management following her graduation from the Graziadio School.
