Faculty Positions

The George L. Graziadio School of Business and Management of Pepperdine University seeks a tenure-track faculty member to begin August 1, 2018 for each of the following disciplines:

Accounting
• Applied Behavioral Science
• Decision Sciences
• Marketing
• Organizational Theory & Management
• Strategy

The School offers several master's degree programs and one bachelor's degree program in Southern California - the main campus in Malibu, and at campuses in Encino, Orange County, West Los Angeles and Westlake Village. Average class size is under twenty-five students. Opportunities to teach in more than one program and location promote interacting with students from diverse ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds and years of experience in business.

Faculty Candidate Qualifications:

Candidates are expected to demonstrate competency in fulfilling their professorial responsibilities within a culturally diverse environment, among faculty, staff, and students. The ability to create a supportive and positive classroom environment for students is required. We seek faculty who enjoy collaboration within and across disciplines and place a high value on collegial relationships.   

 

Accounting:

The candidate must have an earned doctorate in Accounting or be in the final stages of their dissertation. A CPA or CMA is desirable. Research support includes access to WRDS (Wharton Research Data Services) with Compustat and CRSP. A successful candidate will demonstrate scholarly capabilities, strong teaching ability and meaningful business or managerial experience. The candidate at the assistant and associate level will be considered; rank, salary and benefits are commensurate with experience. Pepperdine will have representatives at the 2017 AAA Annual meeting in San Diego, California.

 

Applied Behavioral Science:

We seek candidates who are skilled in facilitation of experiential learning and team-building, and who bring a personal commitment to enhancing personal and professional growth for themselves and others. The ability to create a supportive and positive classroom environment for students is required. We are especially interested in candidates who conduct applied research that has practical applications for industry and business professionals. Successful candidates will have a terminal degree in Organizational Behavior or related field such as Human Resources, and will have demonstrated strong scholarly and research capabilities with an active research agenda, strong experiential teaching ability, and significant business or managerial experience. Candidates are expected to demonstrate competency in fulfilling their professorial responsibilities within a culturally diverse environment, among faculty, staff, and students. Positions are ranked from assistant professor to associate professor; rank, salary and benefits are commensurate with experience. Pepperdine will have representatives at the 2017 Academy of Management Meeting in Atlanta, GA.

 

Decision Sciences:

Candidates must have an earned doctorate in Business Analytics, Management Science, Operations Research or a related field. A successful candidate will demonstrate significant scholarly capabilities, strong teaching ability and meaningful business or managerial experience. Candidates will be considered at the assistant and associate level; rank, salary and benefits are commensurate with experience. Pepperdine will have a representative at the 2017 INFORMS and DSI conferences.

 

Marketing: 

The major consideration for this appointment for a tenure track position is a commitment to exceptional research and teaching. The candidate will be expected to develop high impact research in the field of marketing. Successful candidates will have a terminal degree in Marketing, and will have demonstrated high quality scholarly contributions to marketing, strong teaching ability, and meaningful business or managerial experience. Candidates are sought at the rank of Full or Associate Professor level. Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience. Pepperdine will have representatives conducting preliminary interviews at the 2017 American Marketing Association Annual meeting – Summer Marketing Educator's Meeting in San Francisco, California.  We will review candidate materials on an ongoing basis beginning June 15, 2017.  

 

Organizational Theory & Management:

Successful candidates will have a terminal degree in Organization Theory, Management, Macro Organizational Behavior, or a related field such as Human Resources, and will have demonstrated scholarly capabilities, strong experiential teaching ability, and significant business or managerial experience (minimum of five years). The position ranking is an assistant professor or associate professor; salary and benefits are commensurate with experience. We are seeking candidates who have active research programs in the above-named disciplines or in related areas such as Organization Development, Talent Management, or Management Consulting. We are especially interested in candidates who conduct applied research that has practical applications for industry and business professionals. We are also interested in candidates who possess international business or global management experiences as a practitioner and/or instructor. Pepperdine will have representatives at the 2017 Academy of Management Meeting in Atlanta, GA.

 

Strategy:

Successful candidates will have a terminal degree in Strategy, and will have demonstrated significant scholarly capabilities, strong teaching ability, and meaningful business or managerial experience. We would favorably consider candidates who have some academic or practical backgroun in Entrepreneurship, so please indicate that in a cover letter. Candidates are expected to demonstrate competency in fulfilling their professorial responsibilities within a culturally diverse environment, among faculty, staff, and students. Positions are ranked from assistant professor to associate professor; rank, salary and benefits are commensurate with experience. Pepperdine will have representatives at the 2017 Academy of Management Meeting in Atlanta, GA.
