Network Drive Information

Overview

Network Drives are a common alternative for data storage, and members of the Pepperdine Community also have the option of using Google Drive.  You can use Google Drive to create, share, and edit documents, spreadsheets, and presentations simultaneously with others, and sync them to your desktop.  You can access Google Drive anytime, from anywhere, via the internet.

Pepperdine's network drives remain your best option for sharing and saving your most critical documents.  Files stored on this service are backed up on a daily basis with an additional copy stored securely off-site. Restoration of these files in an emergency is provided for under our technology disaster recovery plan.

Network Drives at Pepperdine

  • R: Drive: Many of the programs and applications used at Pepperdine are installed from the R: drive.
  • S: Drive: Used by people inside a University department to store and share files with each other.  Everyone in a department can save files to the S: drive.
  • U: Drive: Used departments that want to store and share files with people in other departments.

S: Drive

This network disk space was created for people inside a Pepperdine University department to store and share files with each other.

Important notes:

  • The basic amount of S: drive space allotted to each University department is one gigabyte (GB) for which each department is charged $3.25 per month.  This charge will appear on the department's monthly telecommunication bill.
  • If your department needs more than 1GB of S: drive space (or your department wants to reduce its S: drive space), you can make those requests in 1GB increments on the Network Drive Space Request form.  If you need assistance completing the form, call Tech Central at 310.506.4357 (HELP).

U: Drive

This network disk space was created for departments that want to store and share files with people in other departments.

Important notes:

  • U: drives are not automatically allocated. If your department wants to request initial or additional U: drive space (or your department wants to reduce its U: drive space), you can make those requests in 1GB increments on the Network Drive Space Request form.  If you need assistance completing the form, call Tech Central at 310.506.4357 (HELP).
  • U: drive space is charged $3.25 per month for each 1GB increment.  This charge will appear on the department's monthly telecommunication bill.
