End of Support for Windows XP Operating System

What is happening?
Microsoft announced that it will stop providing updates for the Windows XP operating system on April 8, 2014.

How does it affect Pepperdine students and Pepperdine guests?

How does it affect Pepperdine employees?
Because that lack of Microsoft support will mean Windows XP will no longer be secure, Pepperdine University will not allow university-owned computers running Windows XP to connect to the Pepperdine network after April 8, 2014.

All faculty and staff Windows XP computer users will be contacted by Information Technology (IT) to let them know which computers (by computer name) can be upgraded to Windows 7 and which computers will need to be retired.  We will also tell them how to find their computer name, i.e., right-click on My Computer and choose Properties.
