The Program
Not just for pre-med, students will have the opportunity to live on the shoreline of this beautiful island while assisting daily in a medical clinic specializing in dental and vision. Students will also serve outside of the clinic working alongside locals to provide better living conditions. An opportunity for all students to serve in this life-changing ministry.

Cooker Perkins
The Visiting Faculty Member for the 2012 Fiji Summer Medical Mission trip will be Dr. Cooker Perkins, Assistant Professor of Sports Medicine in the Natural Science Division. Dr. Perkins teaches several courses in sports medicine, including: Human Anatomy, Kinesiology, Neuromuscular Adaptations to Training, and Research Methods and Statistics. Dr. Perkins previously received an Excellence-in-Teaching citation and has been nominated for the Howard A. White Teaching Award. In addition to her teaching, Dr. Perkins is actively engaged in maternal and child health research, where her area of expertise is in health behaviors during pregnancy, birth outcomes, and fetal origins of disease. She earned a Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology and Epidemiology, and completed her postdoctoral fellowship in Disease Prevention at Stanford University, School of Medicine. Location
The central location of the Natuvu Creek Mission is in Buca Bay, Vanua Levu, Fiji. On the weekends, students will have the opportunity to travel to surrounding sites and possibly other islands.
Housing and Meals
Students will stay in dorm rooms at the Natuvu Creek Mission. Most meals will be provided and prepared by on-site chefs. For more information on the location and objective of Natuvu Creek Mission, you may visit Mission's website at http://www.missionatnatuvucreek.com/
Proposed Field Trips
The program will include a 24-hour survival challenge, tribal feast, and trip to Taveuni.
Cost
The tuition cost is $1,266 per unit and each student must take a minimum of 3 units. The International Programs Charge of $4,506 covers orientations, airfare and transfers to and from airports, rooms, all meals, and other program extras.
