Open Apereo Sakai Conference 2013
This June, Technology and Learning attended the Open Apereo 2013 conference in San Diego, CA. The Apereo Foundation is the new organization that combines the Sakai and Jasig communities and produces enterprise-ready, open-source solutions for higher education. Pepperdine University uses both Sakai CLE and the Central Authentication Service (CAS).
At the conference, the Technology and Learning group led two pre-conference workshops on Sunday, June 2nd titled "Teaching with Sakai CLE from the Ground Up!", joined by Dr. Stella Erbes of Seaver's Humanities and Teacher Education program.
Pepperdine's Information Technology department sponsored five professors at this year's conference. We routinely invite Pepperdine faculty members to attend educational technology conferences, such as the annual Sakai conference, as a professional development opportunity as well as a chance to identify and share products and strategies to promote student learning. We would like to thank the following professors who were able to join us:
|Graziadio||Dr. Kyle Murphy||Strategy and Entrepreneurship|
|GSEP||Prof. Kenneth Killian||Educational Leadership|
|GSEP||Dr. Margaret Riel||Learning Technologies|
|Law||Prof. William Nix||Media Law|
|Seaver||Dr. Stella Erbes||Teacher Education|
