Enhanced Recreation Area
The second phase of Construction for the Enhanced Recreation Area project is now underway. The work planned for this summer includes constructing a new recreation field and establishing new utility connections in Huntsinger Circle.
In collaboration with the Department of Facilities Services, the Department of Design and Construction has scheduled work on the new utility connections to commence on Tuesday, May 16th. This work will take approximately one month and take place in the street directly across from the Facilities Services parking lot entrance.
Using a newly constructed bypass road (highlighted in blue below), we will maintain two-way traffic around the work area during this project to minimize any impacts associated with this project. There will be barricades, flagmen, and periodic traffic control around this job site to ensure safe travel for vehicles and pedestrians.
Additionally, this project will relocate approximately 5,000 truckloads of dirt from the Drescher Campus to the Marie Canyon area in order to create the foundation for the new recreation field. We expect this work to begin next week and continue through early August.
We will be providing periodic updates on our progress, as well as additional information regarding specific impacts, throughout the course of the project. We appreciate your patience and understanding, we welcome your questions, and look forward to ongoing collaboration with the community as campus construction activity ramps up this summer.
