New Residence Hall - Summer Infrastructure Work
We are excited to announce the commencement of the New Residence Hall project. Work this summer that is necessary initial infrastructure construction will start the week of May 9th. The general contractor will mobilize construction trailers and set up a staging area in the Upsilon parking lot, highlighted below, for use throughout the summer.
Also during the week of May 9th the contractor will begin early utility location work using ground penetrating radar in the Firestone Fieldhouse (FFH) parking lot, as well physically locating and exposing certain existing utilities. Throughout the summer, work in the FFH lot will include trenching and the installation of new underground utilities in the area highlighted below. Traffic control on John Tyler Drive will be necessary at times, and we will provide advance notice of this impact.
Subsequently, work will take place in the Upsilon parking lot and on Hunstinger Circle between the Upsilon parking lot and the Soccer Field, as highlighted below. Similar to the work in the FFH parking lot, this effort will include trenching and the installation of new underground utilities. Traffic control on Huntsinger drive will be necessary at times, and we will provide advance notice of this impact.
Finally, infrastructure work will also take place near Residence Halls 22 (Morgan) and 23 (Dewey), as highlighted below. This work will again include trenching and the installation of new underground utilities. We anticipate this work will start after summer session 1, during which time these two buildings will not be occupied.
We will be providing periodic updates on our progress, as well as additional information regarding the dates that we anticipate working in each of these areas throughout the summer. All infrastructure work planned for the New Residence Hall project will be completed in advance of the Fall 2016 semester.
We welcome any questions and look forward to ongoing collaboration with our community as construction activity builds on campus this summer and continues through 2018. We will be sharing updates about the Payson Library project and other significant construction efforts soon.
