New Residence Hall - Summer Infrastructure Work
We are now two months into our summer utility construction work, and the project is progressing well. Contractors remain on track to complete the infrastructure work planned for the summer by August 19th.
Advance underground utility location work throughout the project areas is complete. The construction of new water lines behind Residence Halls 22 (Morgan) and 23 (Dewey) is about 95% complete. Electrical work in this area is well underway and we anticipate it will be complete by the first week of August.
On Monday, July 18th, trenching for the installation of new underground utilities in the FFH parking lot will begin. Related work will also start on John Tyler Drive, as highlighted below, which will require periods of traffic control. While this work is underway, one lane will be accessible at all times, and traffic will be flag controlled to allow vehicles to pass in each direction. Each night, trench plates will be installed, and both traffic lanes will be open for use.
Additionally on Monday, July 18th, construction will begin on Huntsinger Drive between the entrance to the soccer field lot and Lovernich apartments, as shown below. This work will require continuous traffic control over the next five weeks. One lane will be closed each day, and traffic will be flag controlled to allow vehicles to pass in each direction. Each night, trench plates will be installed, and both traffic lanes will be open for use.
All infrastructure work planned for the new residence hall project will be complete by August 19th, in advance of the Fall 2016 semester.
We welcome any questions and look forward to ongoing collaboration with you and the University community as construction activity on campus builds this summer and continues through 2018.
