New Employees

Welcome to Pepperdine University!

I hope you will soon find what a unique and special place this is—comprised of people from all walks of life performing any number of jobs. We, in fact, are a mini-city employing teachers and professors, landscapers, lawyers, medical professionals, accountants, IT staff, electricians, clerks, coaches, housekeepers, architects, and counselors only to name a few. All of the countless professions at the University support one over-arching goal and one mission:

Pepperdine University is a Christian university committed to the highest standards of academic excellence and Christian values, where students are strengthened for lives of purpose, service, and leadership.

No matter what the role, we are all part of a bigger purpose that will impact the lives of individuals and their families—most of whom you and I will never meet. What a privilege and a responsibility!

We do not consider ourselves the ordinary employer, but a place where we all will be impacted positively and be strengthened for lives of purpose, service, and leadership both privately and in the course of our everyday work. I hope you will find this to be true in your new position.

With warm regards,

Sean Michael Phillips
Associate Vice President, Human Resources and Business Services
