Pepperdine University is currently running a departmental Secure File Sharing pilot program for staff workgroups currently using whole disk encryption software on their Pepperdine-owned workstations. Whole disk encryption ensures that restricted data on the workstation is protected from unauthorized physical access.
The Secure Sync service, powered by Accellion Kitedrive workspaces, is an important addition to whole disk encryption. The service allows workgroups to share restricted data by securely synchronizing files between whole disk encrypted workstations, unlike insecurely with the P, S, U, or Google Drive[BROKEN LINK].
The software client, available for Windows and Mac workstations, can sync hourly in the background or upon request. It will sync all files and subfolders within the local sync location. The sync location is in the user's folder, which will be backed up by Pepperdine's Secure Cloud Backup Service.
