In honor of Memorial Day, the Pepperdine University Graziadio Alumni Network commemorated alumni, students, faculty, staff, and friends with a military affiliation through a Memorial Day Military Meet and Greet at the b.spoke men’s clothing showroom in Costa Mesa on Wednesday, May 25, at 6 PM.

The evening was dedicated to helping military-affiliated alumni from Pepperdine’s Graziadio School of Business and Management establish connections and assist one another through the process of transitioning from serving the nation to entering the corporate sector.

“We are executing strategies that will bring our alumni together based on their common professional interests, particularly in the areas of entrepreneurship, real estate, and human resources,” said Robin Doty, director of alumni services, corporate, and external relations at GSBM. “We want to enable them to create communities of common interests in business to enable them to be successful, share best practices, solve problems, and find connections and jobs.”

The event also marked the public introduction of the Graziadio Alumni Military Affinity Group, which the Graziadio Alumni Network Orange County Council plans to launch under the leadership of former military member and current Pepperdine University EMBA student Anthony Brown.

“The goal of the group is to have veterans helping veterans. We would like to help people who are transitioning out of the military or who just want to connect with other military members,” said Brown. “I personally feel that when a person is in the military, they have a strong support network. Once they leave the military, it becomes hard to find a network like that again. We want to be an extension of that network.”

In an effort to help military service men and women join the workforce, the Graziadio Alumni Network partnered with local nonprofit organization Working Wardrobes to provide businesswear donations to benefit countless veterans in transition. Guests donated nearly 250 pieces of gently used professional clothing to benefit fellow military affiliates.
