2011 TechLearn Faculty Conference
Welcome and thank you for your interest in Pepperdine University's inaugural Technology and Learning Faculty Conference. More than 100 attendees joined us on September 14, 2011 for an inspirational showcase to see how Pepperdine faculty are using technology to enhance learning.
Twenty-first century professors know there are an overwhelming number of technologies out there - using them to enhance learning is no small feat! Many Pepperdine professors have been successful in harnessing technology to stimulate learning. Attendees of the conference learned how professors from all five schools have:
- introduced iPads to foster student engagement with course material
- implemented clickers to monitor comprehension, attendance, and participation
- used Courses to manage a large class of students
- modified their teaching style, shifting from lecturer to facilitator
In addition to hosting faculty-led presentations, the conference site had a hands-on room where attendees experienced these technologies for themselves. Staff were on hand to demonstrate features and discuss how the technology can be used in the classroom. Finally, several vendor partners were available to help faculty explore emerging technologies.
I am indebted to the faculty members who presented at this inaugural event. We look forward to seeing you next year!
