Faculty Professional Development
In the summer of 2012, the Technology and Learning group hosted a two-week, technology-enhanced faculty professional development program from July 9-20. Led by Hong Kha and faculty mentor Stella Erbes, the program taught faculty who were new to integrating instructional technology into their courses through workshops and sessions focused on course design that integrated technologies into the classroom that were learner-centric, and shifted how they delivered course content.
The seminar-based, hands-on learning approach of each discussion was pedagogically constructed to evaluate which technologies would help professors deliver course information, engage students, measure learning, and incorporate new learning activities.
Consultation sessions were also built into the program to ensure everyone's challenges were addressed. Participants walked away with a starting point on how to chunk course materials into building blocks that integrated technology.
