Faculty Professional Development Spring 2014

This spring we invited faculty from all five schools to join us in a six-week online faculty professional development program. Faculty mentor, Dr. Margaret Riel from GSEP, modeled for participants how to implement "learning circles" in their teaching to build better leadership skills in students. The program ran from February 10, 2014 through March 18, 2014. We designed this program specifically to help Pepperdine faculty gain more comfort teaching in a  blended/hybrid format.

Participants explored how to:

  • Transform their face-to-face activities into an online format
  • Use instructional technologies, like Google Docs, web conferencing, Jing, and others
  • Integrate their own teaching styles with different technologies to engage learners
  • Solve teaching challenges with the use of technology
  • Collaborate with peer faculty to build a website on how and when to use educational technology to resolve teaching challenges.
  • Watch these videos to learn more about Learning Circles:
  • Principles of Learning Circles
  • Evolution of Learning Circles
  • Power of Learning Teams
