Sign Up to Participate in the Datathon

The analytics cloud platform, Alteryx, will be sponsoring a joint Graziadio-Seaver Analytics Datathon on Friday March 31st (8:30am - 5pm) at the Drescher campus. This event will be for teams of students from Seaver College and the full-time MSBA program at Graziadio. Each team will be composed of students from both schools.

The event will begin at 8:30am in the Wilburn Auditorium with a keynote delivered by Dean Stoecker plus LA Deputy Mayor for Budget and Innovation, Jeanne Holm, and Pepperdine DBA alumnus Dr. Michael Cusumano, managing director of the Cusumano Real Estate Group. For the datahon event, Alyeryx will be providing free access to their analytics software, two virtual training sessions in advance of the event on how to use the software, pizza for lunch, "swag" for all participants, and $4,000 in scholarships to be shared among students in the winning and runner-up teams.

The analytics datathon will focus on the critical shortage of affordable housing in LA, that contributed to the recently declared state of emergency on homelessness in LA. With the support of LA Deputy Mayor Jeanne Holm and LA Chief Data Officer Eva Pereira, students will have access to pertinent datasets within the LA City Open Data repository and additional datasets from the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) and other sources to allow them to analyze the problem and identify potential solutions.
