Tutoring

The Seaver Student Success Center offers a wide-range of group tutoring services. These services are offered at no cost to Seaver students. Whether you have a specific question or need general clarity on a subject, our academic tutors can help. Appointments are not necessary, just stop by during the listed tutoring time. Students are required to check-in at the SSC's front desk before entering a tutoring session. Spaces are not guaranteed, we run on first-come, first-served.

Tutoring is currently offered for the following departments:

  • Accounting
  • Communication
  • Fine Arts
  • Humanities and Teacher Education
  • International Studies and Languages
  • Natural Science
  • Religion and Philosophy
  • Social Science

View our tutoring schedule or send us an email if you do not see tutoring listed for a course that you are taking.

Interested in Becoming a Tutor?

SSC tutors assist students in academic achievement by answering questions to clarify understanding of course concepts. Our tutors set aside an hour to a few hours a week to support Seaver students. If you are interested in becoming a tutor at the Student Success Center, please follow the steps below:

  1. Ask a faculty member in the division for which you are interested in tutoring to submit a Recommendation Form.
  2. Submit your resume to studentsuccesscenter@pepperdine.edu

We encourage you to look over our Tutoring Schedule (link to SSC's Seaver Tutoring page) to see the courses we currently offer tutoring in. Potential tutors must have at least an 'A-' or higher in the course they are interested in tutoring, and a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. This is a paid position and will be filled on an as-needed basis. Students will be notified if a position for which they applied becomes available.

If you have any questions, please email us at studentsuccesscenter@pepperdine.edu.

Academic Coaching

The SSC offers individualized and personalized academic coaching designed to help students overcome possible success barriers. Alongside your coach, you will explore your personal learning style and will learn strategies to help you study smarter, create better studying habits, take more effective notes, and set achievable goals.

Our academic coaches are prepared to find strategies that work best in accordance with your personality. As certified interpreters of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, they can assist you in understanding your personality preferences, the strength of those preferences, and how they might impact your college experience.

If you are interested in scheduling an academic coaching appointment, please complete the Academic Coaching Form.
