Apply for the 2025 Faith and Business Seminar Retreat
The business administration division at Seaver College, in collaboration with the Center for Faith and Learning, will host a faculty and staff seminar retreat from Tuesday, May 20, to Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at the Serra Retreat Center in Malibu.
The event will feature Jeff Van Duzer, author of Why Business Matters to God: (And What Still Needs to Be Fixed) and former provost of Seattle Pacific University. Prior to his role as provost, Van Duzer served as dean of the School of Business and Economics and professor of business ethics and business law at Seattle Pacific University. There, he led efforts to develop a theologically informed philosophy of business, known as “Another Way of Doing Business.”
During the two-day retreat, Van Duzer and Jooho Lee from the business administration division at Seaver College will colead discussions on whether and how the Christian tradition can align with for-profit business. Participants will be asked to read Van Duzer’s book, along with two critical articles, before the event.

- Who Can Apply: Full-time faculty and exempt (salaried) staff
Participation Includes:
- A $450 stipend
- A copy of Why Business Matters to God
- Room and board at the retreat center (includes lunch and dinner on Tuesday, breakfast and lunch on Wednesday)
Applications are due by April 15, 2025, at 5 PM. Space is limited to 15 participants, who will be selected based on their expertise, experience, and interest in the topic.
