This Week: Attend a Special Good Friday Service and Reception

On Friday, April 3, 2026, faculty and staff are invited to observe Good Friday in community as we prepare our hearts and minds for Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday. Join colleagues for a contemplative morning at neighboring Serra Retreat and for a special service in Stauffer Chapel with a reception to follow.

The day will begin with at 8:30 Am at Serra Retreat, the nearby Franciscan retreat center nestled between the Santa Monica Mountains and the Pacific Ocean in Malibu, provides a quiet respite with stunning views. The Stations of the Cross, a prayer labyrinth, and small corners overlooking sweeping vistas, offer participants unstructured time for contemplation and reflection. Shuttle service will be provided from Stauffer Chapel and attemdees are encouraged to register here.

At 10:30 AM, a service will be held at Stauffer Chapel where attendees are invited to remember the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross through silence, contemplation, and prayer with readings and songs. Rudy Hagood, director of Student Ministries within the Hub for Spiritual Life, will provide a brief message. Participants are invited to fellowship in the Seaver Board Room following the service where refreshments will be served. Register to attend the service and reception here.
