Attend Emily Shane Foundation Fundraiser This Weekend at Alumni Park

On Sunday, October 20, 2024, from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM at Alumni Park, the Pepperdine community is invited to an afternoon of fun to support the Emily Shane Foundation, a local Malibu nonprofit organization named a 2024 California Nonprofit of the Year.

The Emily Shane Foundation was founded in 2011 following the tragic death of Emily Shane, who was killed in a traffic collision on Pacific Coast Highway (PCH). Following Emily’s passing, her parents, Ellen and Michel, were flooded with stories of Emily’s kindness from her classmates at school. Since then, the Emily Shane Foundation has endeavored to empower underserved middle school students through personalized academic coaching and mentorship while spreading awareness of the dangers of PCH.

Pepperdine is pleased to host the Emily Shane Foundation for their fall event, Wings and Waves of Achievement. Faculty, staff, and students are invited to bring friends and family to enjoy an afternoon of community while supporting a worthy cause:

  • Live music, no-host lunch, and dessert trucks
  • Carnival games, petting zoo, arts and crafts, service opportunities
  • Special butterfly release by California state senator Ben Allen

This event is open to people of all ages and there is no cost for admittance, however, registration is preferred. Learn more at the Emily Shane Foundation website and contact Human Resources for any questions.
