Attend Panel Discussion on Michael Ditmore's "Texting the Nation" on April 1
Pepperdine Libraries is pleased to present a panel discussion exploring Seaver College professor of English Michael Ditmore's latest book, Texting the Nation: Agencies and Actions in the Declaration of Independence (Routledge, 2026), on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, noon to 1 PM, in the Payson Library Surfboard Room. In the text, Ditmore analyzes the language, grammar, and rhetoric of the US Declaration of Independence to reveal how its structure shapes ideas of political agency and authority. It examines the document's drafting and editing process while tracing its intellectual roots in Virginia political thought.
Joining the panel are Tim Perrin, senior vice president for strategic implementation, and Lisa Smith, assistant professor of teaching of English.
