Faculty and Staff Are Invited to Meet Director of Athletics Tanner Gardner

Earlier this week, President Gash announced that Tanner Gardner would join the University as its new director of athletics, a critically important role in the success of our athletic programs across Pepperdine.

Gardner most recently served as the deputy athletic director for external affairs at Rice University, where he successfully led the strategy behind record-high season ticket sales across all sports and sponsorship revenue. He is a former student-athlete and a Stanford Hall-of-Famer who holds the school record for being the first three-time All-American in wrestling. He is also a two-time Academic All-American and a Pac-10 medal winner and went on to earn his MBA from Harvard Business School.

On Thursday, March 28, at 10:30 AM, faculty and staff are invited to meet Gardner and his family in the Seaver Board Room and learn more about his vision for the future of athletics at Pepperdine. During an intimate conversation with President Gash, Gardner will discuss what led him to Pepperdine and what he looks forward to as the University’s head of athletics. Gardner will be joined by his wife, Emily, and children, John, Lucy, and Boone. If unable to attend in person, the program will stream live via YouTube. A reception will follow the program.
