Important Updates to Campus Parking and Permit Requirements

As the Pepperdine community arrives to campus this fall, the University invites you to review news and updates related to campus parking and permit requirements.

Campus Parking News and Updates

After much anticipation, the new baseball parking lot will open soon near the Eddy D. Field Baseball Stadium along John Tyler Drive. Making this lot available to our campus community will provide hundreds of new parking spots in convenient areas of campus.

Mountain construction site preparation began in the Rho Parking Lot this summer, which took a number of parking spots offline to accommodate the necessary work. In January 2024, additional parking spots in the Rho Lot will be taken offline to further advance the project. The University has thoughtfully considered innovative parking optimization strategies to reduce the impacts of construction on campus and will continue to distribute information about updated parking protocols throughout the fall semester.

Virtual Permits and Physical Permits for Campus Parking

Thoughtful and respectful campus parking practices begin with observing assigned parking areas. To enhance our parking program and increase transparency for our campus community, the University will reintroduce annual parking permit stickers that will, together with the existing virtual parking permit system, more clearly identify student, faculty, and staff parking permissions. The Department of Public Safety will monitor and issue reminder notices for a short time before beginning to cite vehicles that do not have a valid permit or are parked in an unauthorized area.

For the 2023–2024 academic year, all parked vehicles on the Malibu and Calabasas campuses must possess both a virtual parking permit and a parking permit sticker. We encourage you to register each vehicle you regularly drive to campus. All faculty, staff, and students must newly complete this registration process for the upcoming academic year—registrations will not be rolled over from previous years. Vehicles must be registered on the Parking Portal website

After accessing the site, please click the “Login” icon at the center of the screen, which will allow existing users to access their account and new users to create one. From there, please click “Permits” from the drop-down menu and select “Get Permits.” Following completion of the prompts on this page, your virtual permit will be generated. Consistent with past years, virtual permits will correspond with designated parking areas, which can be found on the Department of Public Safety website.

Next, you must also obtain a physical parking permit sticker. Permit distribution details are as follows:

Faculty and Staff

Faculty and staff must register for virtual permits by Monday, August 28. Physical permit stickers will be mailed to home or campus mailing addresses on file with the University after virtual registration is complete. These will be mailed in two batches based on who has completed their virtual registration, the first on Monday, August 21, and the second on Tuesday, August 29. If you do not have an address on file, you may pick up your permit sticker in the Human Resources suite on the first floor of the Thornton Administrative Center beginning Monday, August 21, or at the Department of Public Safety main office beginning Wednesday, August 30. For those residing in an on-campus condominium, please obtain a virtual permit and sticker for each vehicle in your household.
