Register for Frank Pack Distinguished Christian Scholar Lecture
On Wednesday, March 11, 2026, starting at 11:45 AM, the Pepperdine Libraries' Rushford Center for Research on the Churches of Christ is pleased to welcome Deborah Haarsma for this year's Frank Pack Distinguished Christian Scholar Lecture, titled "Ancient Faith Meets Modern Science: Following Christ in Today’s Debates."
Haarsma is an astrophysicist and author. From 2013 to 2024, she led BioLogos, which brings together Christ-centered faith and rigorous science in a spirit of gracious dialogue. Her work appears in several books, including Four Views on Creation, Evolution, and Design and Christ and the Created Order. She wrote the book Origins with her husband and fellow scientist, Loren Haarsma, presenting the agreements and disagreements among Christians regarding the history of life and the universe. Previously, Haarsma had a 20-year career in astrophysics research and was professor and chair of the Physics and Astronomy department at Calvin University. She earned a PhD at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Bachelor degrees in physics and music at Bethel University in Minnesota.
Everyone is welcome to attend the lecture, but seating is limited and registration is required. Lunch will be served during the event.
