Be a Career Champion on National Career Development Day

The Seaver College Career Center invites faculty and staff to play a pivotal role as a Career Champion on National Career Development Day on Wednesday, November 13, 2024. Your valuable participation can support students in their journey toward success.

Here's how you can get involved:

  • Share Your Career Journey: Share your personal and professional career journey with students (the challenges and successes) and invite them to ask you anything about your path.
  • Suggest Career Conversations: Empower students' career exploration by encouraging them to conduct career conversations with other department staff or faculty members. These conversations will provide them valuable opportunities to learn about different roles, gain insights from diverse career journeys, and receive meaningful career guidance to shape their future paths.
  • Encourage Job Search Preparation: Ask students if they've started working on their resumes, begun searching for internships or jobs, or have any desired companies in mind. If they haven't, suggest they make an appointment with their Career Advisor or drop by the Career Center during the drop-in hours for resume support and career guidance.
  • Promote Career Day Attendance: Encourage your students to attend the Seaver Career Center’s National Career Development Day celebration. There will be fun giveaways, internship/job search support, and opportunities for students to get their career questions answered. Your encouragement can make a significant difference in their decision to attend.
  • Sign up for the Seaver College Career Champion Program: The Career Champion Program was developed to recognize faculty and staff members contributing to students’ career readiness and equip them with resources to support students' career development effectively. There are no time commitments or required meetings. For more information and to sign up, please visit our Resources for Career Champions page, and you’ll be sent resources and information to help you guide students in their career paths, including technology tools, information about upcoming events, and resume templates.

Thank you for your contribution towards fostering a culture of career readiness and success among our students. Please reach out to the Seaver College Career Center with any questions.
