What if my class falls on a holiday?

All instructional activities (in-person, online synchronous and asynchronous learning) should be conducted within the class term dates since that is what is communicated to students. In the event your in-person or online synchronous session falls on a University holiday, faculty may have the option of scheduling a make-up class within the class term dates, if it is available. Please consult with your Department Chair and the appropriate program office. Alternatively, faculty will need to fulfill the contact hours with asynchronous material. Please schedule a consultation with the eLearning team if you would like guidance on creating asynchronous material.  Any changes should be reflected in the course syllabus.  If you have additional questions, please contact your Department Chair.

Guidelines for Unexpected Delays or Cancellation of Class

On the rare occasion that you may be late to class or need to cancel class altogether, please follow the outlined steps to assist with appropriate notification.

  1. From your Pepperdine email account, inform your students by bcc: your class distribution list (i.e OTMT 483.01 Spring 2024) and cc: your department chair and the appropriate program office provided below.
  2. Post an announcement on Sakai/Canvas. If the class session is occurring in-person, please also inform the front desk staff at the graduate campus where your class is being held.
