Our Mission Statement
The mission of Student Affairs is to enrich the student experience by fostering learning and personal and spiritual development, and by providing for and responding to student need.
Developing a learning orientation to student affairs means a re-orientation of student affairs work: thinking of our work in terms of educational outcomes, such as critical thinking, moral reasoning, and appreciation for diversity, rather than as sets of activities, such as residence life, student activities, and Office of Community Standards. This means conducting different business – that is, actively seeking opportunities for student learning in everything we do – not doing the same business with different labels.
It is our belief in Student Affairs that if we take seriously the imperative to be intentional about what we teach students and what we want them to learn, our work will be transformative and redemptive, and our students will be prepared to live lives of service, purpose, and leadership
