In Case You Missed It... Establishing Trusting Environments
In case you missed it, on July 17, 2024, Corrie Napier led a workshop on establishing trusting environments, enhancing respectful communication, and achieving integrated wholeness as a Pepperdine community. Participants gained insights on creating an environment where individuals feel a sense of belonging by learning 4 strategies to build trust in their teams:
- Invest into Relationships
- Ask good questions
- Support colleagues with work tasks
- Invite Diverse Perspectives
- Take note of different styles and skill sets
- Draw out less dominating voices
- Elicit Feedback and Ideas
- Initiate More Appreciation
- Use the Languages of Appreciation: Words, Time, Service, Gifts, Touch
- Appreciate people in their preferred way
- Be Proactive to Clear the Air
- Bring a solution-oriented mindset
- Focus on the problem, not the person
- Collaborate on how to move forward

- Attend social events together
- Engage with learning and development resources
- Host monthly all-staff meetings for intentional connection

- Take a group fitness class together
- Take DiSC assessments to learn about behavior and communication styles
