Harbor Serves

You are invited to join Harbor Serves on May 8 to give back through meaningful service projects. Harbor Serves provides an opportunity to learn from long-standing nonprofit partners of the university and create some positive community impact.

On-campus Volunteer Opportunities | 12:30 - 2:30 PM, Pepperdine Amphitheatre:

  • Hygiene Kit Packing: Volunteers will assemble kits of essential items and toiletries that will be distributed to those affected by the recent wildfires and to folks experiencing homelessness to provide them with basic necessities.
  • Pack Backpacks with School Supplies: Volunteers will pack children's backpacks with much needed school supplies. Together, we can break down barriers to equal education and ensure that kids can step into the classroom on the first day of school, confident that they are equipped with the tools they need to succeed.
  • Create pamper kits for new moms! In partnership with local nonprofit Claris Health, volunteers will put together care packages for low income new moms. Be a blessing to someone at the beginning of their parenting journey!
  • Build activity kits for children: Volunteers will create encouragement cards and put together arts and crafts supplies to share with children in local hospitals.

Off-campus Volunteer Opportunities | 12:15 PM, Meet at Firestone Fieldhouse:

  • Urban Promise LA: Serve at this Christian organization that provides leadership and empowerment to the children and youth of Los Angeles. Volunteers will organize and beautify the youth programming space to prepare for the organization's summer camp programming.
  • Third Space Malibu: Work with a disaster relief center, managed by the Boys and Girls Club of Malibu, that provides essential supplies and support to those affected by the fire.
  • Shemesh Farms: Learn and engage with the community at Shemesh Farms, a local herb farm providing community and employment to adults with diverse neuro and physical abilities, while also producing fresh, locally grown products. Volunteers will sort herbs, meet with Farm Fellows, and learn about this community collaboration housed at a local church.

Lunch and transportation will be provided to off-campus opportunities. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring water and sunscreen. Please seek advance approval with your supervisor to ensure sufficient workplace coverage. For more information, contact Amy Dailey at amy.dailey@pepperdine.edu.
