Office for Community Belonging DUNAMIS! Professional Development Series
The Office for Community Belonging is hosting two professional development sessions this month: Your Story Matters! and Are You Coachable? These sessions will be led by J. Goosby Smith and April Harris Akinloye, Vice President and Assistant Vice President for Community Belonging.
Your Story Matters!
This in-person, interactive session offers faculty and staff an opportunity to reflect, connect, and grow in a space where every story is valued.
Participants will:
- Reflect on significant personal and professional experiences
- Receive strengths-based feedback to identify core competencies
- Reframe and articulate their personal narrative with confidence
- Contribute to the growth and empowerment of peers
Co-facilitated by Dr. J. Goosby Smith and Dernard D. Newell, JD. A meal will be provided.

Are You Coachable?
This interactive session, led by Dr. April Harris Akinloye, Assistant Vice President for Community Belonging, will help you:
- Reflect on your coachability
- Identify strengths and growth areas
- Set meaningful advancement goals
- Learn how to connect with mentors and coaches
This module encourages participants to approach professional and personal development with a holistic perspective that fosters self-reflection, connection, and a sense of belonging within the Pepperdine community. Lunch provided.
