Sales Tax at Dining Locations

Some faculty and staff utilize Waves Cash for convenience to purchase meals at campus dining locations with their Pepperdine ID card. In years past and under a previous dining partner, faculty and staff meals were treated similarly to student meals such that sales tax was not charged to faculty/staff. This plan was reviewed during the change in dining partners, and the University determined it is best practice to charge sales tax for faculty and staff meals, regardless of how their meals are paid. For a time, the University covered the sales tax for employees; effective March 1, 2024, all faculty and staff will be charged sales tax on all food and beverages purchased at on-campus dining locations.
