Public Relations Courses

Participating Faculty:

  • Klive Oh, Assistant Professor of Public Relations
  • Jamila Cupid, Assistant Professor of Public Relations

Participating Student:

  • Haya Haddad

Goals:

PR 490: We are offering a new course with focus on global public relations. Through this partnership, we hope to gather further data regarding regions and topics for global public relations that would be most applicable and beneficial for students. This will assist us with planning lesson materials, assigning readings and designing assessments to maximize student learning. Moreover, the partnership will allow us to conduct a pilot review of identified topics and readings with the participating student to gauge their effectiveness.

PR 555: For this capstone class, we plan to revise and enhance the case study component. The participating student will assist with bibliographical research on case studies associated with topics on diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). Through these activities, we will revise the reading list and examples used in the case study lesson modules to further students' understanding of DEI-related cases in the public relations industry.

Communication Courses

Participating Faculty:

  • Abigail Smith, Assistant Instructor of Teaching of Debate

Participating Student:

  • Christian Parham

Goals:

COM 385: My goal is to create an understanding of argument beyond all of the textbooks on this matter and specifically focusing diverse methods, understandings of what constitutes an “expert,” and persuasive strategies in the social movement and political realms. Tangibly, this looks like more specific units on the diverse voices being heard and infusion of lessons that validate different types of voices in our existing/traditional models of persuasion.
