Volunteering
Service to Pepperdine
Commencement Host Program
We ask that every staff member of the Graziadio School volunteer their services once a year during commencement. For more information about the Commencement Host Program, please click here.
In 2013, President Andrew Benton announced a new initiative to foster creativity and innovation from within the Pepperdine University community. Open to all faculty, staff, and students, the Waves of Innovation initiative invites the Pepperdine community to contribute to the transitions that will allow the University to become an increasingly resourceful, efficient, impactful, faith-based, and global institution.
Service to Community
Volunteer Staff Leave (Service Project)
The Staff Volunteer Leave allows staff members to take up to five full days of paid
leave dedicated to service of their choosing for every 5 years of continuous full-time
employment at Pepperdine. Staff employees are free to work with any non-profit organization,
charity, school, or other program where they feel their service will be the greatest
benefit. This leave provides staff members with the opportunity to model to students
and to the greater community the life of service that is the heart of Pepperdine's
mission. For more information, visit the University Policy Manual Section 16.9, or
click the link below.
Waves of Service
The Waves of Service movement celebrates, supports, and connects Pepperdine Alumni
committed to volunteerism and careers of service worldwide. The vision of Waves of
Service is to become the world's most active alumni service in the world.
University Ministries
The Benevolence and Community Service Ministry at the University Church of Christ,
among others, reaches and ministers to people with special needs by providing food,
clothing, shelter, prayer, and other needs. Consider participating personally or financially
in a dozen community-orientated ministries based locally and around the world.
United Way of Los Angeles
Pepperdine faculty and staff continue the long-time tradition of strengthening the
larger community by supporting the efforts and goals of United Way of Greater Los
Angeles to create pathways out of poverty. Large and small gifts, either a one-time
donation or payroll deduction, to United Way contribute to affordable housing and
healthcare, educational achievement, and financial stability for millions of Angelenos
and their families.
