A New Look for Information Security: a Safe Use VPN Reminder
ISO Website Redesign
Over the summer months, the Information Technology (IT) department redesigned the Information Security Office (ISO) website to provide a leaner, more efficient hub of cybersecurity tips and policies for the Pepperdine community. The fresh look helps our students, faculty, and staff find the security information they need faster.
Update your bookmarks! Although the homepage has the same link, some locations have moved in the cleaner site structure. The new security structure includes:
- Policies & Standards
- Security Training
- News & Events
- Resources & Services
- About, and
- Report Incident
We welcome you to explore Pepperdine IT Information Security today! If, by chance, you still can’t find something you’re looking for, you will find the ISO phone number–310.506.4040–in multiple locations on the site
Safe Use VPN
Earlier this summer, the Information Security Office launched its "Safe Use VPN" campaign and training course. The use of the University VPN is limited to people with a legitimate need for access to specific network resources and approved business purposes. The "Safe Use VPN" course explains the intention of the VPN, and completion of the course is required for continued access to the service.
Faculty and staff members who did not already receive the Safe Use VPN course invitation may complete the VPN Request Form. Through this course you will learn:
- If you really need the Pepperdine VPN
- The VPN’s purpose
- How to secure the VPN, and
- What the VPN does and does NOT do.
The above form and other training resources can be found on the new Security Training page in the "Security Tips" section on cybersecurity.
From the home page through the entire ISO website, we trust that you will find the necessary information to meet all your cybersecurity needs. As always, call 310.506.4040 with any security questions, and if there is no answer, always, ALWAYS leave a voicemail so that our ISO staff can get back to you ASAP.
