Pepperdine Adopts Zoom Video Conferencing Platform

Computers with video conferencing

Zoom Coming Soon

On August 1, 2019, Pepperdine University will launch Zoom to the entire community.  All students, faculty, and staff will be able to enjoy this powerful web conferencing platform to meet, share, and learn online.

During the 2018 wildfires, Zoom was vital to our community. It helped countless members of the community stay in touch through challenging situations to assure loved ones of our safety and security, while also allowing the University faculty to continue teaching classes and keeping students on track in their academic careers.  Through this situation and an extensive evaluation and pilot review, Zoom's features made it the clear choice for Pepperdine.

Update Your System to Maximize Zoom Launch

As the university prepares for the formal adoption of Zoom, the IT department would like to remind everyone in the Pepperdine community to ensure that you are running the most current version of your computer's operating system (OS) as well as your software.

In early July, a security was issue reported related to Zoom on Macintosh computers. This was quickly remedied with updates to the Zoom desktop client and Apple's MacOS.  Apple and Zoom's responses were so swift, in fact, that there were no known reports of anyone exploiting the issue.

If you haven't updated your system or software recently, we urge you to do so.  The best way to ensure a great experience in any software application is to follow the Information Security Office's policy of keeping your computer software current by checking for updates.
