Spring 2022 Red Cross Blood Drive
Now more than ever, your partnership is invaluable. Globally, The Red Cross is facing a blood crisis as it kicks off the new year. We are currently facing the worst blood shortage in over a decade, posing a concerning risk to patient care. Since the pandemic began, The Red Cross has experienced about a 10% decline in the number of people donating blood. Doctors have been forced to make difficult decisions about who receives blood transfusions and who will need to wait until more products become available.
The Red Cross, which supplies 40% of the nation’s blood supply, has had to limit blood product distributions to hospitals as a result of the shortage. In fact, some hospitals may not receive 1 in 4 blood products they need.
You can help by responding to this urgent need! Sign up below to donate blood at Pepperdine's Malibu Campus from March 22nd to 24th. Appointments are available between 11 AM-5 PM. Most donations typically take less than 15 minutes. Contact Christin Shatzer Román at christin.shatzerroman@pepperdine.edu with questions.
