Nutrition Basics and Myths

The class, hosted by Kaiser Permanente's Dr. Hashmi, will review nutrition basics and provide insight on the importance of a balanced diet and exercise. Nutrition is instrumental in preventing, maintaining, and even reversing aspects of long-term chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and kidney disease. In addition, the class will discuss several nutrition myths, including fad diets and exercise regimens. Dr. Hashmi will also be available to field questions that Pepperdine employees may ask.

Registrants will receive the Zoom link for the webinar one hour prior to the start of this session.

Dr. Sean Hashmi did his undergraduate and graduate training at UCLA and then went on to UC San Diego for medical school training. He completed his internal medicine residency training at Olive View–UCLA Medical Center, followed by a nephrology fellowship training at UCLA Medical Center. He has been a practicing physician at Kaiser Permanente since 2009. He is a firm believer in the power of nutrition and exercise and tries to impress that upon his members. He is board-certified in internal medicine, obesity medicine, and nephrology.
