Your Health and Holiday Stress: A Survival Guide

During the bustle of the holiday season, stressors can affect health and overall well-being, leading to and exacerbating serious health problems. Stress can affect nearly every system of the body and everyone feels and reacts differently. 

UCLA Health Cardiologist, Dr. John Hollowed, will discuss the science of stress on your body, and techniques to lower your stress, especially during the holidays.

Dr. John Hollowed is an interventional cardiologist at the UCLA Health Simi Valley Alamo Specialty Care clinic. He specializes in the management of coronary artery disease through coronary interventions and preventive medicine. He is committed to providing comprehensive cardiovascular care to his patients. His research focuses on coronary interventions and cardiogenic shock. He has taken part in translational research bringing knowledge from the animal lab to clinical practice. Dr. Hollowed is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, the Subspecialty Board of Cardiovascular Disease, and the Board of Nuclear Cardiology.

Dr. Hollowed earned his medical degree from Creighton University and completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Olive View-UCLA Medical Center. He then pursued a fellowship in Cardiovascular Medicine at UCLA and completed his Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at UCLA. He earlier earned his bachelor's degree at Carleton College and received his Master of Science in Medical Sciences from Drexel University.
