Holiday Greetings from Pepperdine International Programs

Season's greetings from IP! I want to congratulate you on your decision to study abroad this coming summer or next year. Our programs are highly competitive, and your acceptance into the program is a mark of distinction. Over eighty percent of Pepperdine undergraduates study abroad, which is the 3rd highest participation rate in the country. Studying abroad is truly a cornerstone of the Seaver College experience.

As we enter the holiday season, I am reflecting on the importance of gratitude, especially in these challenging times. We are so thankful that in the midst of so much uncertainty, you chose to join the IP family. Please click the image below to hear my personal reflections on gratitude during this time:

Executive Director Beth Laux

As you gather with your family during the holidays, you will start planning in earnest for this experience. We understand that you may not know where to begin. To help you and your family start these conversations, I want to share some valuable tips and information with you as you enter this new season of preparation:

  • You're not alone. We know that preparing to go abroad can seem overwhelming. International Programs has a global network of faculty and staff who are committed to helping you succeed - we have a proud track record of sending more than 15,000 Seaver students abroad. Please contact us any time with questions or concerns.
  • Study abroad is a valuable and impactful experience. Research illustrates that compared to students that do not participate in international programs, study abroad students are twice as likely to find employment after graduation, earn higher salaries, are more likely to gain entrance into their grad schools of choice, and improve their GPA over time.
  • Today's students are entering a constantly changing workforce and society. As a result, many students feel isolated or unable to cope with life's challenges. Research, as well as our experience, shows that studying abroad is one of the best ways to combat these challenges. Time and time again our students return from abroad with increased self-confidence, resiliency, independence, and problem-solving skills.
  • Student learning and achievement is directly impacted by their environment. To ensure that you have the support that you need before, during, and after your experience abroad, Pepperdine directly manages all of its own programs and facilities. We champion a living-learning format where you will become part of a close-knit community of faculty, staff, and peers who will challenge you to grow in a safeguarded environment throughout your experience.

For 60 years, Seaver College has provided education abroad programs to Pepperdine students. Our commitment to providing high quality, impactful experiences has earned us the honor of being ranked in the top 5 programs nationally for more than 5 years. We are excited that you will be joining this legacy of success and transformation, and we wish you and your family blessings and peace during this holiday season.

Warm regards,

Beth Laux
