Data Stewardship Governance Structure
Overview
Business Intelligence partners with multiple stakeholders of the University. Our data stewardship governance structure includes three major groups:
Data Partners
The Data Partners consist of individuals ("data experts") who are most intimately familiar with the data, who work with the data on a regular basis and can speak most directly to the business processes surrounding data collection, management, and usage. The Data Partners meet monthly and represent the following units/groups across the university:
- Admissions
- Advancement
- Alumni Affairs
- Athletics
- Auditing Services
- Business Intelligence
- Career Services
- Constituent Relationship Management (CRM)

- Office of International Student Services
- Office of Student Accessibility
- Online Learning

- ...and more
Data Custodians (Stewards)
The Data Custodians are stakeholders whose primary functions are to review and approve the work of the Data Partners (e.g., data definitions, data integrity, business process, and data standards), provide as-needed moderation of unresolved issues, and consult with the Data Sponsors accordingly.
