MACLP Clinical Training Team: Your Practicum Support
The on-ground MACLP (Master's in Clinical Psychology) Clinical Training team exists to support your clinical traineeship, serving as the bridge between students, faculty, supervisors, and mental health agencies. Our primary function is to secure and maintain strong partnerships with a robust network of approved agencies throughout Southern California, ensuring a variety of quality training opportunities. We also manage all critical University and California BBS (Board of Behavioral Sciences) Licensure requirements embedded in your practicum courses, making certain that you meet the necessary standards to graduate and pursue professional licensure in California.
MACLP Clinical Training Modules in Canvas
The on-ground MACLP Clinical Training Department welcomes you. As a student, you can access your on-ground MACLP Clinical Training Modules in Canvas through your Wavenet account. Everything you need for practicum success, you will find in these three interactive training modules:
- The MACLP Homeroom is your go-to space for practicum support, where you can connect with your Clinical Training team, learn professional expectations, discover success tips, explore your licensure journey, get guidance on Experiential Learning Cloud, and access the many resources Pepperdine has to offer.
- Pre-Practicum is your step-by-step guide to landing a practicum site and starting your trainee journey. This module walks you through every stage of the process—from creating your Action Plan, resume, and cover letter, to researching and applying to sites, preparing for interviews, and navigating offers. You’ll also find resources for international and out-of-state students, licensure requirements, practicum forms, and guidance on using Experiential Learning Cloud to track hours, licensure forms, and assignments.
- Practicum has everything you need to thrive in the clinical practicum course - assignments, hours, licensure steps and beyond. This module is your roadmap through PSY 662/663, covering all the essentials: completing your Practicum Check-In, 4-Way Agreement, and BBS Supervision Agreement; logging hours in Experiential Learning Cloud; and staying on track with assignments to receive course credit. You’ll also find guidance on mid-semester requirements, navigating challenges at your site, completing BBS verification forms, and understanding the MFT/PCC licensure path. As you approach the finish line, you’ll learn how to confirm hours, prepare for graduation, and take your next steps as an Associate.
Clinical Training Consultation
Students are encouraged to work closely with their campus-affiliated Clinical Training Coordinator (Homeroom: My Clinical Support Team) while they are in the program. The Clinical Training team can help guide you to resources that will support you in securing a practicum site, navigate challenges at your practicum setting, and understand how to complete the requirements for the program and licensure. The team has years of experience working clinically and understands the unique challenges trainees face in the field. The team has extensive knowledge on BBS regulations, as well as the legal and ethics codes of the profession. We are here to support your professional development within your practicum setting.
Experiential Learning Cloud (formerly Tevera)
Experiential Learning Cloud (formerly Tevera) is your main portal for all practicum-related requirements in the MACLP program. Here, you’ll:
- Search and apply to approved practicum sites
- Track your required hours for the program and licensure
- Complete assignments and California BBS licensure forms
You’ll keep lifetime access to track hours and BBS documents toward licensure even after graduation.
To register, email maclpct@pepperdine.edu. For help navigating the platform or meeting requirements, use the Canvas module resources or contact the Clinical Training team at the same email.
Peer Mentors
Campus Clinical Training Coordinators, together with their Graduate Assistants, help connect students with practicum mentors. These mentors are current student trainees who share their experiences to support peers preparing for practicum. If you’re interested in connecting with a practicum mentor or learning whether a panel will be offered on your campus, please reach out to your Clinical Training Graduate Assistant or Clinical Training Coordinator.
Class Visits
Upon request, MACLP Clinical Training team members will visit your practicum-related classes to check in with you and provide any relevant information that will help you stay on track with your requirements for the PSY 661/662/663 courses (Preparation for Practicum and Clinical Practicum). Keep in mind that all practicum-related assignments must be completed in order to be eligible to graduate from the program.
Your Graduating Launchpad: The "Grad and Beyond" Page
As you get ready to graduate, make sure to visit the "Grad and Beyond" page (found in the Practicum Module on Canvas). This single page provides everything you need to successfully transition from student to professional. The "Grad and Beyond" page is divided into four critical areas:
- MACLP Graduation Checklist
- GSEP Career Services & Job Search Resources
- Transitioning to the ELC Alumni Platform
- California BBS MFT Associate Registration Application
Students who review these resources consistently have a smoother, easier launch into their careers and feel way more confident when submitting their Associate application accurately to the BBS.
