General Information

In order to limit undue financial and academic stress related to illnesses during the academic year, the University requires students to carry a U.S. based health insurance plan. The University Insurance Committee is contracted with Academic HealthPlans (AHP) who researched insurance options and presented Anthem Blue Cross Life & Health Insurance Co. as the optimal coverage for our student body. This Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) through Anthem Blue Cross meets Health Care Reform requirements, has been contracted to include the lowest premium for your benefit, and may be used to meet the University's health insurance requirement. You may purchase any health insurance plan that has comparable coverage to SHIP but are required to provide proof of your health insurance plan through the AHP Insurance Dashboard.

Academic Health Plans facilitates our Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) with Anthem Blue Cross and provides customer service to our students for all insurance matters. A nominal administrative fee is added to the premium to cover University insurance-related services.

A SHIP Summary of Benefits and Coverage document is available by contacting Academic HealthPlans.
