In this informative session, Dr. Sam Kashani, a sleep physician at UCLA Health, will be discussing the importance of sleep to the body. Dr. Kashani will also be discussing common sleep disorders in adults and children, including sleep disturbances experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the overall relationship between stress, anxiety, mood, and sleep health.

Spring 2022 Red Cross Blood Drive

Now more than ever, your partnership is invaluable. The Red Cross is facing a national blood crisis as it kicks off the new year. We are currently facing the worst blood shortage in over a decade, posing a concerning risk to patient care.The Red Cross has experienced about a 10% decline in the number of people donating blood since the pandemic began. Doctors have been forced to make difficult decisions about who receives blood transfusions and who will need to wait until more products become available. Join the American Heart Association in celebration of National Wear Red Day by wearing red on Friday, February 4! The American Heart Association is hosting a Wear Red Day Heart to Heart Conversation to learn about how we can all live heart healthy in 2022 and beyond. This webinar will feature a local cardiologist sharing important health information followed by time for Q&A. Virtual Pacific Crest Trail: The Journey Continues

Campus Recreation is excited to announce the 2nd Annual Virtual Pacific Crest Trail event. The Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) is a 2,650 mile long hiking trail from the border of Mexico to the border of Canada. Last year, Pepperdine Community members (students, faculty, staff) virtually hiked from Mexico to Yosemite (942 miles), and this year we are continuing on the trail from Yosemite to the border of Washington (1,205 miles).

Cancer Prevention: A Lifestyle Approach

March 30, 2022 | 2 PM | Cancer continues to be the second most common cause of death in the US, after heart disease. A total of 1.9 million new cancer cases and 609,360 deaths from cancer are expected to occur in the US in 2022, which is about 1,670 deaths a day. Can a focus on cancer prevention practices reduce your risk? Dr. Nimit Sudan, specialist in hematology and medical oncology from UCLA Health, will discuss lifestyle approaches to cancer prevention, including early detection, quality nutrition, stress management and exercise to optimize health and longevity.
