Preparing to be with Family Over the Holidays

December 2, 2021 | 10 AM | Join Dr. Kelly Haer, LMFT, Executive Director of the Boone Center for the Family for a webinar on how to relate better with family and celebrate Jesus more fully this Christmas. Kelly will also acknowledge how the holidays can trigger our stress, and provide guidance on how we can have a more relational, joy-filled time together.


Fall 2021 Spiritual Practices

This fall, the Hub for Spiritual Life offers two spiritual practice sessions to the Pepperdine community. John Peterson, Associate Director of Pepperdine's Center for Faith and Learning, and Associate Professor of English for Seaver College, and Zac Luben, Associate Chaplain for Partners, will lead us through two workshops designed to better cultivate a sense of spirituality in our lives and where we stand with God today.

Nutrition Basics and Myths

November 16, 2021 | 12 PM | The class, hosted by Kaiser Permanete's Dr. Hashmi, will review nutrition basics and provide insight on the importance of a balanced diet and exercise. Nutrition is instrumental in preventing, maintaining, and even reversing aspects of long-term chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and kidney disease. In addition, the class will discuss several nutrition myths, including fad diets and exercise regimens. Dr. Hashmi will also be available to field questions that Pepperdine employees may ask.


Your Health and Holiday Stress: A Survival Guide

December 2, 2021 | 10 AM | During the bustle of the holiday season, there are stressors that may not be recognized as affecting health and overall well-being, stressors that can lead to or exacerbate serious health problems. Stress can affect nearly every system of the body and everyone feels and reacts differently. UCLA Health Cardiologist, Dr. John Hollowed, will discuss the science of stress on your body, and the many ways to lower your stress, especially during the holidays.


What Is Osteopathic Medicine?

November 12, 2021 | 11 AM - 12PM | Osteopathic medicine is the fastest-growing medical field in the U.S., according to the U.S. Bureau of Health Professions. Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine are trained to look at the whole person from their first days of medical school, which means they see each person as more than just a collection of organ systems and body parts that may become injured or diseased. Today, more than 25 percent of medical students in the United States are training to be osteopathic physicians. December 8, 2021 | 12 - 1 PM | Modern life today means living in challenging times which makes it more critical than ever to learn to cope with uncertainty, unpredictability and stress. Trying to make decisions about how to move forward can be overwhelming when it is unknown what tomorrow will bring, let alone next week or next month. Finding techniques that help you relieve stress and make decisions you feel comfortable with is critical to managing these feelings now and into the future.

We are blown away by the turnout for this drive and we can tell how much effort has gone into these donations. Together, we were able to collect over 665 pounds of food for local community members in need - This is a huge feat! Your support greatly helps continue furthering our mission of service.
