About Virtual New Student Orientation

The Virtual New Student Orientation is designed to introduce incoming students to the programs, services, and resources needed to begin a successful graduate school experience. Virtual New Student Orientation will be offered in three parts: Pre-Arrival Orientation, Program Orientation, and New Student Webinars. Please review the information provided below and mark your calendar for your orientation events. We look forward to welcoming you in the fall! 

Pre-Arrival Orientation

Prior to the start of the fall term, incoming students will receive an email from the Full-Time Programs Office with instructions to access the virtual Full-Time Pre-Arrival Orientation via their WaveNet Student Center To-Do List. 

Program Orientation

Your Program Orientation is an opportunity to meet your classmates, faculty members, academic advisor, career coach, and to learn about important next steps for your academic journey. All Program Orientations will be held via Zoom on the dates listed below. For students who are unable to join the live orientation sessions, a recording will be posted to this webpage after the event.

Spring Webinar Series 

Student Engagement and Success is offering a spring webinar series on a variety of topics designed to support your transition to graduate school. Join us to refresh your academic writing skills, learn about student support resources, review global study opportunities, and learn how to meet new friends and get involved in student clubs. The spring webinars are open to all Pepperdine Graziadio students. For students who are unable to attend the live webinars, recordings will be posted to this webpage after the event.

Office of International Student Services Town Hall

The Office of International Student Services (OISS) is providing a town hall information session for new and returning Pepperdine Graziadio international students. During this session, students will receive important immigration updates and will have the opportunity to ask questions about how to maintain their F-1 student status at Pepperdine.

This webinar will cover the key platforms and technologies students will need to use to access their class materials and other resources. Topics we will cover include Sakai ("Courses"), WaveNet, VoiceThread, LinkedIn Learning, Zoom, and more.

Academic Success & Library Resources 

Tuesday, January 12, 2021, 5 - 6 PM (PT) 

All Pepperdine Graziadio students have access to a variety of academic support resources. This webinar will describe these resources and how to access them, including writing tutoring, content tutoring, workshops and webinars, and website resources. Additionally, a Librarian will describe online library resources available to you such as databases and e-journals, inter-library loan, the Harvard Business Review, research guides, and more.

This session will provide useful strategies and tips for proper etiquette and communication expected of graduate-level students. This includes strategies for written and verbal communication with faculty, staff, and fellow students, as well as expected norms and etiquette for in-class behaviors.
