How to Withdraw from a Course

Course Withdrawal

You may self-withdraw from a course if:
  • you will continue to be enrolled in a minimum of 6 units (BSM) or 4 units (Master's) and
  • it is before the deadline to drop the course for 100% tuition refund and no letter grade will be issued for the course.

To locate the drop deadline for the course, log in to WaveNetand click on Student Center. Click on the calendar icon for the specific course you wish to withdraw. The date listed next to Drop-Delete Record is the deadline to self-withdraw.

If your withdraw is past the drop deadline, will result in you being enrolled in less than 6 units (BSM) or 4 units (Master's) and/or you would like to withdraw from all courses, please refer to the Course Withdrawal-Resulting in Part-Time Status below.

To self-withdraw from a course:
1. Log in to WaveNet and click on Student Center.
2. Click on the other academic drop down menu under the Academics section and click on Enrollment: Drop. Then click on the double arrow.

3. Select the course you would like to withdraw from and then click DROP SELECTED CLASSES.

4. Confirm you would like to drop the selected course(s).

5. Confirm the status of the class as showing - success: dropped. Click on My Class Schedule to verify your updated schedule.

Course Withdrawal (Resulting in Part-Time Status)

Students will need to submit a course withdrawal request if the withdrawal occurs after the add/drop deadline for the course and/or if the withdrawal results in enrollment of less than 6 units in the BSM program or 4 units at the Master's level. Please email your program advisor from your Pepperdine email account with the request based the template below. Your advisor will forward the request to Student Accounts and the Registrar's Office, which will take about a week to process. Please review your schedule in your Student Center a week after submitting the request to confirm it has been processed.

Body of the email:

  • State you would like to withdraw a course
  • List the course (ie ACCT 652.34)
  • Reason for the withdrawal

Term Withdrawal

If you would like to withdraw from all of your courses, please email your program advisor from your Pepperdine email account with the request. Depending on when you submit the request you may be charged a $150 withdrawal fee. Refer to the Course Withdrawal Info in the left navigation menu for more information.

Please refer to the template below for guidance on what information to include in your request. Your advisor will forward the request to Student Accounts and the Registrar's Office, which will take about a week to process.

  • State you would like to withdraw from all of your courses
  • List the courses (ie FINC 474.41, LEGL 470.43 and OTMT 481.23)
  • Reason for the withdrawal

Prior to withdrawing from any course, contact Financial Aid and Student Accounts to inquire how the withdrawal may affect your financial aid package and student account. For more information about the impact on tuition payments and potential loss of federal funds, please click on the appropriate link below. Students with a F-1 visa are subject to federal regulations that require them to obtain permission from the Office of International Student Services to withdraw from courses below full-time enrollment.
