Overview

Pepperdine University is exploring Pepperdine Syllabus (powered by Simple Syllabus) as a central syllabus management platform for all schools. With this tool, we hope to make it easier for professors to create syllabi, students to access syllabi, and schools to manage and maintain a repository of all class syllabi.

Exploration and Adoption

Adoption Plans

After piloting the service in Spring and Summer 2025, the Pepperdine Graziadio Business School (PGBS) adopted Pepperdine Syllabus in Fall 2025 as a soft launch. It is a phased adoption with the option to use the service in Fall 2025, and moving to full adoption after Spring 2026. The school's internal "Graziadio Course Syllabus Search" tool (aka "Course Syllabus" tool in Courses/Sakai) will subsequently be retired.

All College of Health Science (PCHS) schools adopted the platform starting in Fall 2025. This includes the School of Nursing (SON) and the School of Speech-Language Pathology (SLP). Other programs will be phased in as they launch.

GSEP's On-Ground Psychology programs are piloting the service this Fall 2025.

Staggering Additional Schools/Programs

To ensure successful reviews and adoptions, we will need to stagger the exploration by other schools and programs over the next two years (Fall 2025-Fall 2027).

  • Caruso School of Law (CSOL): We will reach out to CSOL leadership in AY25-26 to assess the school's availability for a future pilot.
  • College of Health Science (PCHS): The school adopted Pepperdine Syllabus for all academic programs starting this Fall 2025.
  • Graduate School of Education and Psychology (GSEP): The Psychology department is piloting in Fall 2025 for the on-ground Psychology programs. We will determine additional explorations at the school soon.
  • Graziadio Business School (PGBS): The school successfully piloted the service in Spring and Summer 2025 and adopted the platform in Fall 2025 as a soft launch.
  • School of Public Policy (SPP): The school has expressed its interest in a pilot, and we are in discussions about the timing.
  • Seaver College (SVR): We will reach out to Seaver College leadership in AY25-26 to assess the school's availability for a future pilot.
