Outdoor Recreation
About Us
Here at outdoor recreation, we strive to create a space for students to build a supportive community and environment where they can be challenged to move beyond their comfort zones. Within this community, we aim to facilitate connections to nature, God, and fellow Pepperdine students through the various outdoor activities we do! With activities ranging from rock climbing, skiing, and camping to backpacking, beach days, and movie nights, outdoor recreation has something for everyone and we welcome all experience levels!
Every year, the Outdoor Recreation Council chooses a theme that embodies their mission for the year. This year's theme is "Explore Boldly."
To explore boldly is to step into the unknown with courage, curiosity, and wonder. Nature continually calls us to venture beyond the familiar—whether on rugged trails, in still waters, or within the quiet places of our own hearts. As we push past boundaries and step out of our comfort zones, we grow in resilience and discover not only new landscapes, but new dimensions of ourselves and of our community.
We believe that exploration is most meaningful when shared. Together, we can encourage one another to take leaps of faith, embrace challenge, and celebrate the beauty found in creation. We hold close the words from Matthew 16:26, “For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” This exploration isn’t only outward, but inward—it seeks both the beauty around us and the truth within us.
This year, we invite you to join us in committing to a spirit of bold exploration—of nature, of community, and of ourselves.
