Resident Advisors

RA and SLA Nicole's Group

What is a Resident Advisor (RA)?

The primary role of the Resident Advisor (RA) is to develop relationships with students in order to walk alongside them as they learn about themselves, their relationship with Christ, and the Pepperdine community. The RA develops such relationships through everyday conversations, programming, accountability, and peer counseling.

Additionally, the RA is to support the Resident Director (RD) and the Department of Housing and Residence Life (HRL) in all administrative tasks to help keep the community safe, clean, and in working order.

A returning RA is expected to be a leader among leaders, which implies serving in a mentoring role for students who are new to HRL leadership.

These positions may also include some of these responsibilities: Participation/Instruction of August training, participation in the Peer Review Committee and HRL Leadership Council, assistance with ongoing leadership training.

The RA role position lasts nearly 10 months, requires 20 hours a week, and generally begins in August and ends in late April or early May.
