Can I request a roommate?
Yes, you may request up to one roommate for Summer 2021. Students interested in living with a specific roommate for summer housing must ensure that both individuals are enrolled in courses for the same summer session;
- have applied for summer housing corresponding to the session(s) in which they are enrolled;
- request the roommate with the summer 2021 application in the Housing Portal; and
- have confirmed the request.
Please note, the deadline to select a roommate for session 1 is Friday, May 28. Additionally, please note that you may only request one roommate. The maximum group size is two students. Although we do our best to accommodate, HRL cannot guarantee placement with requested roommates.
When do I check-in and check-out?
Summer Session 1:
- Check-In: June 6
- Check-Out: July 3
Summer Session 2:
- Check-In: July 5
- Check-Out: July 31
If you are a first-year or a transfer student, check your WaveNet account to ensure you do not have a registration hold from the Student Health Center. If you do, contact the Student Health Center to clear prior to arrival.
All move-ins start at 1 PM. If you are a returning student, your student ID card will give you access to your permanent housing assignment. If you are a first-year student and don't yet have a student ID card, please plan to get yours at OneStop in the Thornton Administrative Center. Please be sure to upload your ID picture prior to coming to campus, which will better facilitate the process of getting your student ID card.

What do meal plans look like over the summer?
Please take note that neither meal plans nor housing are mandatory for students enrolled in summer sessions. For a list of meal plan rates, please click here. Rates are subject to change.
How do I sign up?
You will apply for housing via the Housing Portal. Applications are accepted through the summer. Students should specify on the form each summer session in which they are enrolled.
Is there an on-campus summer storage option?
There is no storage space for students to keep their belongings on campus throughout the summer. As an alternative, please see Flexible Steel Movers for various storage options, including picking items up on-campus, sending boxes home, and storing items during the summer which will then be delivered to a student's fall semester housing room assignment.
What if my plans change?
You may cancel your summer housing contract via the Housing Portal. Cancellations for Summer Session 2 housing made after June 25 will result in the student's account being charged a cancellation fee.
