Frequently Asked Questions
Students may apply for summer housing via the Housing Portal once the application opens (typically in April). Within the summer housing application, students will indicate each summer session for which they are enrolled and are requesting housing.
Although summer housing applications are rolling, should a student submit their summer housing application after the Friday before the check-in day of each summer session, they are not guaranteed to receive their housing placement prior to move-in day. As such, all students should apply for summer housing at their earliest convenience.
In order to be eligible for on-campus housing over the summer, students must be enrolled in at least one summer unit (per session).
Yes, students may request up to one roommate. Students interested in living with a specific roommate for summer housing must ensure that both individuals:
- Are enrolled in courses for the same summer session
- Have applied for summer housing corresponding to the session(s) in which they are enrolled
- Request the roommate within the Summer 2024 application in the Housing Portal
- Have confirmed the request
Although HRL will do its best to accommodate, we cannot guarantee placement with requested roommates.
The summer check-in and check-out dates for each summer session will be available to view on our Check-In Procedures and Check-Out Procedures webpages, as well as the Seaver Academic Calendar. Feel free to email firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions you may have!
Please note that neither meal plans nor housing are mandatory for students enrolled in summer sessions. Meal points will roll over between summer sessions, but will not roll over into the academic year. All summer meal points will expire at the end of Summer Session 3 and are non-refundable.
There are no storage options for students to keep belongings on campus throughout the summer. As an alternative, feel free to review a list of our University-approved third-party vendors that offer various storage options including picking items up on-campus, sending boxes home, and storing items during the summer (which can then be delivered to a student's fall semester housing assignment).
Cancel your summer housing application via the Housing Portal or by emailing our office.
Students may cancel their summer housing prior to move-in day with no penalty. After move-in day, students will be charged the full summer session rate.
